LEFTOVER CHAPATI HALWA

INGREDIENTS
5-6 chapatis
2-3 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
1/2 cup condensed milk or 1/2 cup sugar syrup
dry fruits of your choice

I recently posted one more recipe for leftover chapati i.e. leftover chapati chaat. I tend to have leftover chapatis as kids are unpredictable on dining table.

Monsoon time you feel like having something fried or sweet. In the evening saw 5-6 leftover chapatis and thought of making something sweet.

First thing came to my mind was halwa and then thought we make suji halwa, atta halwa and many more, and atta halwa is made with atta and these chapatis too. So grinded and did the same process as we do while making halwa.

If you find any difficulty grinding chapatis, keep in freezer for 15 minutes without wrapping so that it can become hard, and then grind it.

It's not necessary to use only condensed milk you can make sugar syrup of 1 cup sugar with 1 cup water. I prefer using condensed milk as it gives nice creamy flavour and texture.

Fry it ONLY on low flame as it will get burnt, it's difficult to make out with looks whether it's cooked or not, so your sense organ (nose) will play an important role here. It will not take more than 10 minutes.

As it start giving aroma of halwa it means it's done then add condensed milk and nuts.

I am sure your kids will love it.

METHOD

Take leftover chapati, grind it into fine powder.

Heat ghee in pan, add powdered chapati, roast till fragrant on low flame ONLY. It will take around 5-10 minutes. It will be difficult to make out with colour as chapatis are already brown in colour, so keep check.

When fragrance start coming, add sugar syrup or condensed milk. Mix well and let this also cook on low flame, add dry fruits at this stage and cook till it combines well and start leaving sides of pan.

Garnish with some more nuts and serve hot!
