INGREDIENTS
For Dough:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup cold cubed butter
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp water (if required add more)
For Apple filling:
2 medium sized roughly chopped apples (not finely)
3-4 tbsp powdered brown sugar or white (preferably brown sugar)
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon powder
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp cornflour
METHOD
For Dough:
In a bowl, mix flour and sugar, rub butter into flour with fingertips till mixture resembles bread crumbs or you can beat in beater for faster and best results. Sprinkle some water to combine dough.
Wrap the dough with transparent sheet and keep in fridge for 30 minutes.
For Apple Filling:
Take roughly chopped apples in a bowl, sprinkle lemon juice over it and mix well now add sugar, cinnamon powder. Cover with lid and let it rest for minimum 30-45 minutes, or till it releases at least 1/2 cup of juice.
When it release juice keep it in strainer and leave it again for 30 minutes, as it takes time to strain properly.
Take release juice in microwave safe bowl and add 1 tbsp butter in it and micro it on high temperature for 2-3 minutes or till liquid reduces and become light caramelized. Now add this caramelized paste in apples and mix well. Sprinkle cornflour over apples and mix well.
Apple filling is now ready.
Take out the dough from fridge and roll it thin with the help of rolling pin.
Take tart molds and press it to give impression and cut on dough. Take the dough and put it inside the tart mold.
Cut few (around 20-25 long strips of dough) refer pic no.
Prick the dough all over with knife or fork and bake it in pre-heated oven for 15 minutes at 180°C.
Take out from the oven and add apple filling generously in it and cover with dough strips as shown below in pic.
Bake it again for 25-30 minutes in pre-heated oven at 200°C.
Let it cool down as apple filling will be very hot and serve these healthy tarts with milk or as snack to your kids.
HEATING APPLE SYRUP MIGHT TAKE MORE OR LESS TIME DEPENDING ON THE QUANTITY. KEEP AN EYE AFTER 1 MINUTE.

12. Add apples in this syrup, mix well and sprinkle 1 tbsp of cornflour all over and mix well.
13. Take out the dough from fridge and roll it thin like this.
14. Take tart mold and press it hard on dough to get accurate shape.
15. Like this.
16. Take out and adjust all over the tart mold.
17. All the molds are ready.
18. Prick all over with knife or fork.
19. Bake it in pre-heated oven at 220°C for 10-15 minutes or till its semi baked.
20. After 15 minutes.
21. Take it from oven and add apples generously on it.
22. Cover it with long strips horizontally and vertically like this.
23. Grease it with butter.
24. Again bake it for 20-25 minutes at 220°C or till it becomes crispy and golden in color.
25. Let it come down to room temperature and enjoy!!!
