1 cup rolled oats
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal (optional)
1 tsp chana dal (optional)
1 medium chopped onion
1 large chopped carrot
1/4 cup peas
1/4 cup American corn
1 cup water
1 tsp chaat masala
salt and black pepper to taste


Dry roast oats till little fragrant. Don't turn it brown. Take out in a bowl and keep aside.

In same pan, put 2-3 tbsp oil, add mustard seeds let it crackle add urad and chana dal, let it turn brown.

Add chopped onions, cook till golden in colour. Add vegetables of your choice I added chopped carrot, peas and corn. Saute for 2-3 minutes.

Add water. Cover and cook on low flame.

When vegetables are done, add salt and pepper. Mix well.

Add roasted oats. Mix well. Cover and cook again for 3-4 minutes or till water is absorbed completely. Turn off the flame and serve.

1. If you feel it's dry sprinkle more water and mix.

2. If it's too moist, leave it uncover for some time.

2. Add oil in pan, add mustard seeds, let it splutter, add urad and chana dal, let it turn brown.

3. Now goes brown, let it turn brown.

4. Add chopped vegetables.

5. Add water.

6. Cover and cook.

7. When veggies are done, add salt and pepper.

8. Add roasted oats.

9. Cover and cook for 2-3 more minutes.

10. It's ready to serve.
