INGREDIENTS
1 finely minced capsicum
1/2 cup finely minced cabbage
1 medium sized minced carrot
1 small chopped onion
2 tbsp wheat flour (Maida)
2 tbsp cornflour
1 tbsp oats powder (optional)
1 tbsp chopped garlic
1 tsp soya sauce
1 1/2 tsp tomato sauce
1 tsp oil
1 tbsp warm water (if required)
salt as per taste
spring onions or coriander for garnishing
For Sauce
2 tbsp finely chopped garlic
1 tbsp vinegar
2 tbsp tomato sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp soya sauce
METHOD
In a bowl, combine together wheat flour, cornflour, oats powder, salt, garlic, soya sauce and all chopped vegetables. Make a thick batter using some warm water if required. Make small or medium sized balls.
Heat oil in pan. Deep fry balls on low flame till golden brown. Don't crowd the pan or balls may get stick to each other. Keep aside.
In other bowl, heat oil well, add garlic. Saute till fragrant. Add vegetable balls saute for 3-4 minutes on high flame.
Reduce flame add soya sauce, tomato sauce, vinegar, sugar.
Toss on high flame for 2-3 minutes. Garnish with spring onions or coriander leaves.
You can add chilli in vegetable ball mixture and sauce. I avoid chilli due to kids.
ALWAYS CHECK BALLS FROM INSIDE AND MAKE SURE IT IS COOKED. FRY ON LOW FLAME.
I FRY BALLS TILL LITTLE GOLDEN IN COLOR, REMOVE FROM FIRE, AFTER 1 MINUTE AGAIN FRY ON LOW FLAME TILL BRIGHT GOLDEN IN COLOR. THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO ENSURE YOUR BALLS ARE COOKED WELL FROM INSIDE.
